In April, Jigsaw’s Sixth formers attended Choices and Decisions day at local colleges, Guildford College and Merrist Wood College.
The aim of the day was for our sixth form pupils to think about their own interests and skills, try something new, meet new people and experience a college environment. Some of our pupils attended Merrist Wood College where they took part in animal workshops, spending time learning about a range of animals such as snakes, lizards, guinea pigs and dogs. They then had a break, spending time in the college’s sensory room, before taking part in a sports workshop. Other pupils attended Guildford College for the morning where they attended workshops in cake decorating, salsa dancing, seed bomb making, drama, nail art, dream catcher making and Boccia. A number of other local SEND schools also attended. The events prompted lots of further discussions back at Jigsaw as pupils continued to think about the activities they had taken part in. Our thanks to both Guildford College and Merrist Wood College for this opportunity – our Sixth Formers benefit greatly from Choices and Decisions Day activities and the careers-based focus.
