Deadlines approach for summer challenges

Deadlines are fast approaching for some super events ranging from swimming the Serpentine to walking or running the Surrey Hills and skydiving from an aircraft for people seeking a new challenge and prepared to raise funds for Jigsaw.

We’re offering four free entries in the Swim Serpentine one-mile open water swim on Saturday September 16th, an event covering a full lap around this famous lake in London’s Hyde Park. This is the open water swimming festival’s second year, and the one-mile swim is the most popular event. Last year swimmers recorded times ranging from 20 minutes to an hour or more.

There are several start times throughout the day, and also hot tubs, heated changing rooms and other facilities. You have to be 16 or over, and wetsuits are compulsory if the water temperature is less than 15 degrees.

We just ask that you set a minimum fundraising target of £250 for Jigsaw.

To enter the draw for a free entry (normally £39) please send your full name and date of birth to [email protected] by Friday July 28th. The winners will be told on August 3rd.

Details of the event are at

Free entries worth up to £82 are also on offer for the popular Surrey Hills Challenge on Sunday September 24th, when people of all levels of fitness can sign up to run or walk different distances through the beautiful Surrey countryside.

We suggest a £50 fundraising target for the 5km, £100 for the 10km, £150 for the 21km, £200 for the 40km and £250 for the 60km (which is for runners only!).

Please send your name, contact details and chosen challenge to [email protected] We have been able to extend the previous short deadline to Friday July 28th. Winners will be notified on August 3rd.

For the ultimate thrill of a lifetime, how about jumping out of an aircraft at 10,000 feet and skydiving at 120mph (securely strapped to an experienced instructor!), before drifting gently back to earth?

We’re offering this challenge on Saturday July 29th and August 5th over Salisbury. We need a £50 deposit and suggest a fundraising target of £350, which includes the cost of the jump.
